In the Classroom:
We’ve launched a new project in fifth grade and they are all now video game designers tasked with creating the next viral gaming experience to hit the scene! We’ve started with covering some basics of block-based programming and will begin ideating concepts over the next few weeks. From there, students will be working on bringing their ideas to the screen and building the first “pop up” Brookwood arcade!
Sixth and seventh graders have begun actuating their ideas on how to make Brookwood a more sustainable school community. Some students are designing solar powered charging stations, while others are experimenting with our upcycled 3D printing filament to reduce the amount of PLA we need to purchase or organizing Earth Day activities for later in the year. In short, we are hard at work leveraging our skills and curiosity to improve our community.
We are still accepting PET1 plastic bottles for our upcycling efforts! Please feel free to drop them off at the front desk or directly in the Changemaking Lab.
We are also gratefully accepting cardboard, as our supply is running low!
Our Community Changemaking Job Board is live! If you have anything that needs to be replaced, repaired, or an idea that you’d like to see brought to life, please complete this form and an Upper School student will be in touch.
Finally, if you have any questions or concerns about a personal 3D printer, please feel free to reach out to me here at dsaunders@brookwood.edu. Our Upper School Changemaking Leadership Team is eagerly standing by :)
