Changemaking Lab Note - May 5

The Changemaking Lab was particularly busy this week! After weeks of designing and programming a video game in Scratch, our fifth grade opened a pop-up retro 80’s arcade! Students and faculty were invited in to play our games, ask questions, and listen to sweet synth music like it was 1984 all over again :) You can check out some photos and video of the arcade on Brookwood’s social media accounts.

This week also marked the end of our current TCM rotations for 6th and 7th grades. Over the past six weeks, students have been working on their sustainability projects, and this week they presented on their progress and what they learned about their topic. Raised garden beds were built, seeds were germinated and transplanted, recycled materials were turned into herb gardens, proposals were developed to plant an apple orchard, and students are working local food pantries and our kitchen crew to organize regular transport of extra food to help address local food insecurity. In short, a powerful and empowering six weeks in the Changemaking Lab!
